As a plein air painter we are constantly seeking perfect conditions and I have been taught that the sky is clearest immediately after a rain. This particular shower cleared up around 2pm and I was on site and setting up by 3. The goal was to give the painting a sense of freshness or crispness from the clear winter air. This painting is alla prima.
