This is a plein air painting completed at Loon Point in Summerland, CA. It focuses on the reflections made in the wet sand after the waves recede.
I painted this on location and cleaned it up in the studio that evening.

Oil painting on a Belgian primed linen canvas board

The frame is a hand-made, cast plaster made from a mold of a traditional frame. I shaped it by hand, stained it, and gilt it with genuine 24k gold leaf. It is imperfect and unique and is as much a part of the art as the painting.
