This painting was a special moment for me. I actively focused on the fundamentals: darks in first, start with big shapes and refine edges later, mix as much of the palette as you can ahead of time, have the piles touch each other so you can asses the harmony of colors on the palette before they hit the canvas. With all that and more swirling in my head, the painting happened in a flurry and I'm fortunate and proud of the way it came out.
